The Ribble
Our fishing includes three miles of the Ribble near Clitheroe, from Low Moor upstream to West Bradford. This includes the pool at Waddow Weir, where many salmon have been landed over the years. The length also has two large holding pools for migratory fish, including night fishing for sea trout.
This beat contains excellent fly water, producing the Association’s record for a salmon taken on fly of 25lbs. The sea trout record is 16lbs.
Higher Up the River
At Grindleton and Sawley, we have one bank of three excellent pools. Two pools suit fly fishing, while the other is better for spinning and bait fishing. Additionally, we lease the fishing on the Ribble and Calder at Hacking Hall, including the large Calder Foot holding pool.
Three miles above Gisburn at Nappa we lease a beautiful beat of approximately a mile and a half of single bank fishing with small pools for salmon and sea trout. It is also recognised as providing some of the best wild brown trout and grayling fishing on the river.

The Calder
Where the Calder enters the Ribble at Calder Foot, we have approximately one mile upstream. Over recent years, this stretch has improved for game fishing, particularly for grayling and wild brown trout.
The Hodder
On the Hodder, we have approximately one mile of single-bank fishing upstream from Higher Hodder Bridge. This stretch includes three good pools and streamy runs. Fly fishing is the primary method here, except in high water when spinning is allowed.

The Ribble & Lune Rod Exchanges
Our reciprocal exchange arrangement gives members access to eight miles of trout, grayling, and salmon fishing on the Ribble and another eight miles on both banks of the Lune. Experience stunning countryside while enjoying fantastic fishing opportunities. We fish Settle and Tebay waters as their rules dictate.
Other Fishing
Further north, we share a lovely beat on the River Liddel with Bowland Game Fishing Association. This beat offers approximately 1.5 miles of excellent salmon and sea trout water, where fly fishing is preferred.
We also have concessionary arrangements with Barnsfold and Bank House Fisheries, providing alternatives for Stillwater anglers at reduced fees.

General Information
We offer our members more fishing opportunities than probably any other club in this area. Our Association’s record for Salmon stands at 29.5 lbs., Sea Trout 16 lbs. and 6.5lb wild brown trout. As with most clubs on the river system we no longer stock with brown trout which has increased the numbers of wild brown trout on our waters. We allow bait fishing for grayling and limited coarse fishing on several beats. Car parking is reasonably secure on all the fishing and the access to all beats is easy with very little deep wading required. On all our waters the method of fishing varies depending on river conditions and the beat being fished.
